Presentation of Yulia Belinskaya at ISA World Congress of Sociology

Dr. Yulia Belinskaya presented two papers at the XX World Congress of Sociology in Melbourne, Australia, themed "Resurgent Authoritarianism: The Sociology of New Entanglements of Religions, Politics, and Economies":

- Broken Mirrors and Fake News: The Russian Authoritarianism in 'Der Spiegel': This study explores the representation of the Russian state and Soviet Union governments over the last 75 years in the digital archives of 'Der Spiegel'. The paper focuses on changes in rhetoric and themes, combining computer-aided linguistic analysis with qualitative research to shed light on historical contexts.

- City Invaders: 8-Bit Video Games for the Right to the City: This work examines the shift of video games from shared screens in living rooms to personal interfaces on mobile phones and their invasion of cities as collective urban actions. It intertwines various social science concepts and refers to the artworks of French urban artist Invader, analyzed using data collected during auto-ethnographic routes in Paris.
